John, you mention three different types of testing that helps build confidence for game day: hardware burn-in testing, unit testing of components and functional testing of integrations.

What about non-functional outcomes for performance? I would suggest that if your organization is going to invest in doing these types of tests (especially in an automated and continuous flow) it would be a crime to miss the opportunity to run load and stress prior to release.
