Lightroom Hint

Probably everyone else already knows this trick, but in case you dont: You can tell Lightroom that whenever you import photos, if it recognizes the lens, to just go ahead and apply the default lens correction.

  1. Go into Develop mode; in the left side panel there are Presets, and at the bottom of that there are User Presets.

  2. Find New Preset in the menus, and uncheck everything except for the default lens correction. Give it a name and save it.

  3. Next time you go into Import, theres an Apply During Import thingie in the right panel; put your new lens-corrector preset in there.

It escapes me why Lightroom doesnt just do this automatically; I have never seen a picture which is not improved by the default lens correction.

Note that if Lightroom doesnt recognize the lens, which it irritatingly doesnt for my lovely Sigma 30mm f1.4, this doest work. Does anyone know a trick for linking the EXIF combination of 30mm and Sigma Lens to a particular known-to-Lightroom profile?
